| The Speedy Noodle now occupies the corner that once briefly blossomed as the Biograph Theatre, owned by Biograph Theatres Ltd., a company that operated two other cinemas in Parkhurst and Holloway, run by George Washington Grant. It opened in 1910 with 600 seats and during WW1 gave charity performances in aid of All Saints' Hospital, Vauxhall Bridge Road. Its licence came up for renewal in 1917 but was not taken up, no doubt due to competition from the much bigger Grange Cinema, built just across the road in 1914. |
